Root Canal Treatment

An infection of the soft tissue at the centre of your tooth, also known as the dental pulp, can quickly lead to other complications including severe toothache, a painful abscess, or even tooth loss.

Root canal treatment usually takes place over one or two visits. Your root canal specialist will carefully numb the area to make you as comfortable as possible. They will then remove the dental pulp using a small instrument and clean the area thoroughly to stop the infection in its tracks.

Once the tooth is clean, the dentist will fill the root canal and tooth, sealing it to prevent further decay and infection. In some cases, you may require a crown, depending on the amount of damage the infection has caused.

Your dentist may recognise the early symptoms of an infected tooth when you come in for your check-up. However, if you experience any pain or swelling or you think you have an infection, contact the practice as soon as possible.

We recommend tackling a tooth infection as soon as possible to preserve the overall health of your teeth and gums.

Our experienced dental and healthcare professionals may recognise the signs of infection when you come in for your Dental Check Up. However, if you experience any pain, swelling or think you have an infection contact our practice.
